Ferris State Football Spring Game, Men's Basketball Title Celebration Postponed To Next Friday

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University Athletics has announced the postponement of two major events this weekend due to potential severe winter weather conditions in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs' NCAA Division II National Championship celebration for the men's basketball squad and the scheduled FSU spring football game have both been moved from Saturday to next Friday, April 20, on the FSU campus.

The spring football game will now take place on Friday at Top Taggart Field starting at 5 p.m. (ET) with the men's basketball national championship celebration slated to begin at 7 p.m. (ET).

The changes were made due to the potential of strong winter weather conditions this weekend, including ice.

"With the weather forecast this weekend, it is not in the best interests of our student-athletes, FSU students, fans, alumni and friends to hold these events on Saturday," said FSU Athletics Director Perk Weisenburger. "Travel is not being recommended and we determined that safety should be the biggest priority.

"We're hopeful that moving both events to next Friday will result in much better weather and also create larger crowds for both events," he added.

The national championship celebration on Friday will begin with the doors to Jim Wink Arena opening at 7 p.m. (ET). Fans will be able to catch a replay of the CBS national championship game broadcast on a big screen with all team players and coaches introduced under the lights at 7:30 p.m. (ET). That will be followed by speeches from several individuals, including FSU head coach and National Coach of the Year Andy Bronkema.

Throughout the evening, the FSU Pro Shop located inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex will be open for those wanting to purchase championship merchandise and the concession stand will also be open in the main concourse.

Along with the national championship trophy, the team's other hardware earned this season including the GLIAC Championship, GLIAC Tournament title and the Midwest Regional crown will also be on display.

Admission to both the spring game on Friday and the national championship celebrate are FREE and open to the public.
