Ferris State Athletics Well-Represented On GLIAC Winter All-Academic Teams
Big Rapids, Mich. - A total of 38 Ferris State University student-athletes have achieved Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic & All-Academic Excellence Team honors for the recently-completed 2017-18 winter athletics campaign as announced by the league office. The teams are sponsored by Meijer, Inc.
The 38 Bulldog student-athletes represent four varsity programs, including the NCAA Division II National Champion men's basketball squad, women's basketball along with men's and women's indoor track and field.
Overall, a total of 609 student-athletes achieved all-academic recognition from across the 12 conference member institutions this past winter season.
Ferris State had 16 student-athletes tabbed to the GLIAC All-Academic Team and another 22 who received GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team recognition. Last fall, the Bulldogs' nearly 400 student-athletes combined for a cumulative 3.19 overall grade point average.
Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, not a freshman or a first year transfer student. All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0-3.49. Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student athletes that have a cumulative GPA of 3.50-4.0. Grades are based on marks from the fall semester of 2017.
