Ferris State Athletics To Honor GLIAC Champion Football & Volleyball Teams This Thursday Night

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University Athletics will recognize two Bulldog fall squads for their championship seasons on Thursday (Feb. 6) evening during the men's and women's basketball squad's home doubleheader against Saginaw Valley State inside Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs' Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) hoops doubleheader against the Cardinals will get underway at 5:30 p.m. (ET) for the men's game with the women to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m. (ET).

During the evening action, Ferris State Athletics will recognize and honor the football and volleyball squads, which each claimed conference championships this past fall and were ranked among the nation's top squads. The football team reached the D2 National Semifinals for the third time in four years with the Bulldog volleyball program winning both its sixth-straight GLIAC Regular-Season and Tournament titles.

Both teams will be honored at halftime of the opening men's game.

This past fall, along with reaching the national semifinals, Bulldog Football also claimed a second-straight GLIAC Championship with an unblemished league record under head coach Tony Annese. This past year marked the Bulldogs' fourth-straight trip to the national quarterfinals or beyond, which is the longest streak in the country. The national semifinal contest marked the first-ever semifinal played at home for the Bulldogs and the latest game ever played in a year at Top Taggart Field. Over the past two seasons, the Bulldogs have compiled a 27-2 mark.

This past fall, Ferris State Volleyball made its ninth consecutive NCAA Tournament bid under head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm. The Bulldogs finished the regular-season as GLIAC Champions for the sixth-straight year with a 14-2 league mark and also captured the 2019 GLIAC Tournament Championship for the sixth consecutive year, becoming the first squad in league history to capture six-straight tourney crowns.

Along with honoring and recognizing the championship teams on Thursday night, the Bulldogs will also pay tribute to All-Americans and Academic All-America selections from this past fall on Saturday (Feb. 8) when FSU Basketball hosts Northwood at Wink Arena. Student-athletes from football, volleyball, cross country and soccer will be honored for their achievements at halftime of Saturday's men's game, which gets underway at 1 p.m. (ET) with the women starting at 3 p.m. (ET).
