Bulldog Men's And Women's Basketball Team To Host Tournament Quarterfinals Tuesday Night

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball teams will each begin their chase for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Crown inside Jim Wink Arena on Tuesday (March 3) evening as each earned the right to host a GLIAC Quarterfinal Contest.

The women's squad, who claimed the GLIAC North Division Regular Season Title for the first time since 2011-12, opens the evening with a quarterfinal duel with the sixth seeded Wayne State Warriors set for a 5:30 pm ET tip off.

The men's team, who won the GLIAC Regular Season crown outright for the third time in four seasons, will host the Northern Michigan Wildcats for the second consecutive season in the tournament quarterfinals with tip off set for 7:30 pm ET.

The Ferris State women are 1-1 against Wayne State this season, with an 86-85 overtime victory in Detroit on Feb. 1, when freshman forward Chloe Idoni hit a buzzer-beating lay-up for the victory over the Warriors at the Matthaei Center.

Ferris State's men's squad sports a 2-0 record this season against the Wildcats, most recently meeting inside Jim Wink Arena on Feb. 15 when the men picked up a tight 71-68 victory over the Wildcats. Ferris State junior guard Walt Kelser had 19 points in the win for the Bulldogs.

Tuesday's double header  will be carried live by local flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network starting with pregame coverage beginning at 5:00 pm. (ET). The game will also be streamed live online with both live audio and video atFerrisStateBulldogs.com.

Ticket prices for the league quarterfinal are $10 for adults or $2 for all students older than age five, including college students with identification. Children ages five and under enter free, parking is also free for the GLIAC Quarterfinal contests. 

All seats are general admission and regular-season passes such as the Division II Pass for Two will not be accepted per league tournament regulations. All Rebounders Club members must also purchase tickets for postseason play per GLIAC policy.

GLIAC Passes will be honored for the GLIAC Basketball Tournament.

The first 100 FSU students to each contest with a valid ID card can pickup a free ticket courtesy of FSU's Administration and Finance Division. Tickets will be available for pickup starting on Monday (Feb. 26) afternoon at 2 p.m. (ET) in person at the FSU Athletic Ticket Office located inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex.

As the number one seed, the Bulldog men's squad would host the league final four March 7-8 with a quarterfinal-round victory on Tuesday evening.

The winner of both the men's and women's GLIAC Tournament receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Men's Midwest Regional Tournament slated to be held March 14-17, with the women's regional set for March 13-16 at campus sites yet to be determined. 

The women's team currently ranks sixth in the Midwest Regional Rankings, while the me stand in third. The top eight teams in each region move on to the NCAA Tournament. For more information on regional rankings, Click Here.
