Ferris State Announces Appointment Of Jack Dunlap As Assistant Athletic Trainer

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University has announced the recent appointment of Jack Dunlap as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Bulldogs.

Dunlap, who has served the past four years in a similar role as an assistant athletic trainer at NCAA Division II member Post University (Conn.), brings considerable experience to the role and will be FSU's fourth full-time member of the school's sports medicine and athletic training staff.

"We're excited to have Jack on board and believe he'll be a great addition to our staff in providing care for our student-athletes," said Brett Knight, FSU's head athletic trainer and coordinator of sports medicine. "Jack will fit in well with our staff and help us expand the coverage we can provide across the board to all 17 of our varsity teams."

While at Post University, Dunlap worked extensively providing care and coverage for a wide range of sports, including baseball, men's and women's cross country, women's ice hockey, men's lacrosse and women's tennis. He helped create, implement and execute rehabilitation programs for injured athletes, worked closely with strength and conditioning coaches and staffs to develop injury prevention programs while also scheduling and managing student employees. His duties also included coordinating and overseeing athletic training services for Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tournaments and working with the insurance coordinator to ensure proper execution and completion of injury claims.

Prior to working at Post, Dunlap spent nearly a year at the Chaminade College Preparatory school in St. Louis where he worked with staff members to care for over 80 international students ages 10-18 while also participating in clinical education. He coordinated student event schedules among his other duties in the role.

Dunlap earned his bachelor's of science degree in exercise science from St. Louis University in 2015 and attained his master of athletic training degree from the same institution in 2016. He served student clinical experiences at Triad High School (Ill.), Fenwick High School (Ill.) along with Missouri Baptist University and Washington University (Mo.).

Dunlap's skills include proficiency in performing therapeutic modalities such as dry needling, ultrasound, traction and electrotherapy. He's also well-versed in a multitude of taping and rehabilitation techniques to ensure athlete safety and performance. Dunlap holds a Master Dry Needling Level 1 Certification along with being certified in CPR/AED and First Aid.

He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association (EATA).
