Big Rapids, Mich. - A video produced by the Ferris State University Athletics Communications staff highlighting the Bulldogs' NCAA Division II Football National Championship last fall has been tabbed as one of the nation's best, receiving a prestigious "Silver" Award in the 2021-22 National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) annual awards competition.

The "Business Finished" video, which was produced in December of 2021 and highlighted the Bulldogs' first gridiron national title, earned second place in Group 3 of NACMA's "Best Of" awards showcase for digital video segment. The award was announced recently during the organization's annual convention.

Initiated in 2003, the NACMA "Best Of" Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 16 categories, which each category divided into three groups upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness.

The digital video segment was produced by the FSU Athletics Communications Office under the direction of Assistant Athletics Director for Communications Rob Bentley along with Athletics Communications Associate Harrison Watt by Bulldog alum and former staff member Scott Vander Sloot, who accompanied the team during it's national championship trip to Texas. Additional footage was shot by intern Barrett Jones. Vander Sloot now works as a professional videographer for CrossFit Mayhem while Jones graduated and is currently working professionally in the creative field.

The video was produced and then widely shared and distributed by FSU Athletics in the days following the Bulldogs' national championship win over Valdosta State (Ga.), which avenged FSU's setback to the Blazers in the 2018 title game. The national championship culminated one of the most dominating playoff runs in D2 football history.

The video drew heavy social media traction and was showcased on multiple platforms, including twitter, Facebook and instagram along with the Bulldogs' official website at FerrisStateBulldogs.com and on YouTube. It also drew reposts from several highly-acclaimed sources and national outlets.

This year's NACMA Award is the latest honor for the athletics communications department, which has also received recognition in years past in various other categories including social media, video, publication and poster design in both the NACMA competition along with the annual College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) awards program.

Overall, this year marked the second consecutive year in which the Bulldogs have had one of the nation's top two digital video segments in the competition after FSU earned the "Gold" award in 2021 for a video highlighting the women's basketball program and it's trip to the NCAA Tournament during the COVID-19 cancellation. That piece was shot and edited by then student intern Conner Pyrc, who went on to become the associate director for creative video for West Virginia University football and remains in the digital field.
