Bio

Tim Blashill was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Event Operations in October 2021. Formerly, he served as the Bulldogs' Manger of Athletic Facilities at Ferris State University and was appointed to the position in July 2018.

Blashill, who has been involved with Bulldog Athletics in some form for nearly two decades, took over for former facility manager Craig Wotta, who accepted a position at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Previously, Blashill had served as the Program and Pro Shop Coordinator for Ferris State University Athletics and the Ewigleben Sports Complex. He had been serving in an interim capacity overseeing FSU's facility operations since Wotta's departure and has now been involved with FSU's ice rink operation for more than 17 years.

As the head of FSU's athletic facilities, Blashill provides oversight and supervision of facility scheduling, budgeting, staffing, programming, revenue production and maintenance for the Ewigleben Sports Complex, ice arena and other athletic facilities.

Along with overseeing the pro shop at FSU, Blashill has also coordinated all youth hockey and skating programs in the Big Rapids area along with being the program director for the Big Rapids Junior Hockey Association.

Blashill formerly served as a volunteer assistant coach for Ferris State Hockey for six seasons and also serves as the head coach for the Big Rapids High School hockey program, including leading the Cardinals to a state championship game appearance.

The younger brother of current Detroit Red Wings head coach and FSU alum Jeff Blashill, Tim came to Ferris State following a four-year collegiate hockey playing career from 1996-2000 at Fredonia (N.Y.) State. Prior to attending Fredonia State, Blashill played in the Junior "A" hockey ranks in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).

A 1994 graduate of Sault Area High School in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Blashill competed in ice hockey, football and baseball on the prep level.

Blashill graduated with a bachelor's degree in history from Ferris State, and resides in Canadian Lakes with his wife Erin and their two children.
