Kim Hancock took over as the Bulldogs' institutional Faculty Athletics Representative in January 2015. A longtime supporter and current faculty member, Hancock is a professor in Ferris State's College of Pharmacy program.

The Faculty Athletics Representative helps promote academic integrity while also promoting institutional control of intercollegiate athletics. FSU's FAR also helps facilitate the integration of the athletics and academic components of the collegiate community while enhancing the student-athlete experience.

Hancock works as a professor of pharmaceutics and has served as interim department head of Pharmaceutical Sciences during her FSU tenure. She has worked at the university for more than 20 years since the mid-1990's. The Marshall High School graduate earned a Bachelor's degree from Ferris State and eventually received her PH.D, in Industrial and Physical Pharmacy from Purdue University.

Faculty voices and influence have been present in the affairs of the NCAA for as long as the organization has been in existence. Faculty athletics representatives are prominent in all levels of NCAA governance and they continually serve as points of contact between their campuses and the NCAA in the regular conduct of intercollegiate athletics programs. Overall, they help ensure that the academic institution establishes and maintains the appropriate balance between academics and intercollegiate athletics.
