Bio

Ferris State University has appointed West Michigan native Josh Zuidema as the school's new Coordinator of Athletic Operations. The announcement was made by FSU Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Operations Tim Blashill.

A Grand Rapids native, Zuidema has most recently served as a graduate assistant for Gameday Operations, Events and Fieldhouse facilities at Grand Valley State. As part of his role at FSU, he'll help oversee game and facility operations for multiple venues and be heavily involved in the Bulldogs' summer camps program.

"Josh will be a great addition to our staff and brings considerable experience to the role," said Blashill. "He will play a key role in helping manage and run the events for all 17 of our varsity programs along with our facilities and camps. We're excited to land someone of his caliber to fill this role."

Zuidema helped organize and coordinate coverage for 15 varsity programs at GVSU while also working cross-functionally with various departments to ensure a positive outcome. He provided operational support for all home football games while also performing upkeep on multiple facilities in addition to coordinating maintenance and improvement to ensure safety. Zuidema previously was a Lead Gameday and Operation Supervisor during his undergraduate career at GVSU from 2016-20.

A 2020 Grand Valley State graduate, Zuidema earned a bachelor of arts degree in sport management and is currently working towawrd his masters degree in higher education.

In addition to his time at GVSU, Zuidema was a process assistant for Amazon.com in Lexington (Ky.) from 2021 to 2022, were he performed over 60 data-driven quality and safety audits per shift. He was responsible for supervising the dock, warehouse, indirect and customer returns associates while allocating labor, assigning job duties and enforcing Amazon rules and regulations. He also worked with area managers to ensure daily safety, productivity and quality metrics in addition to retraining associates performing below expected goals to boost performance and confidence.

Previously, Zuidema was a club technican at Dick's Sporting Goods and served as a box office representative for ASM Global in Grand Rapids along with an athletic administrative assistant at Wyoming Public Schools.
