Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University Athletics has announced the appointment of Justin Jackson, who will serve as the Bulldogs’ Compliance and Student-Athlete Success Coordinator.

Jackson, who began his duties earlier this month, most recently served as an assistant coordinator of compliance at NCAA Division I Ohio University for the past year, where he helped ensure student-athletes met the rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA along with the university and other entities.

“We’re excited about Justin’s addition and believe he’s an outstanding fit in this role,” said Senior Associate Athletics Director Sara Higley. “Justin brings great energy and passion to this role and will serve an important role in the success of our student-athletes.”

A Florida native, Jackson helped coordinate between student-athletes and university departments along with the NCAA in regards to requirements during his time at Ohio University. He was responsible for tracking all documentation for selected sports and played a key role in helping student-athletes meet the financial requirements to maintain their amateur status along with eligibility. Jackson also helped conduct practice checks, provided education for new coaches in regards to recruiting rules and assisted in monitoring the activity of student-athletes and staff.

Along with his role as an assistant coordinator, Jackson also worked as a member services assistant for the Ohio University Golf and Tennis Center in addition to being a volunteer track and field coach.

While at Ohio University, Jackson earned a master of business administration degree along with a master of sports administration degree on the graduate level.

Prior to his time at Ohio University, Jackson was a collegiate student-athlete on the NCAA Division II level as a track and field competitor at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Fla. He was a team captain and competed in the Sunshine State Conference in the 200 and 400 meters along with the triple and long jumps.

While he was a collegiate athlete, Jackson also served as a member of Nova Southeastern’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, including being elected Vice President. He helped present opportunities for student-athletes to participate in community service and was a liaison between student-athletes and athletic department administration.

During his undergraduate career, Jackson worked as a program assistant for the Nova Southeastern Intramural Sports program and was an intern in VIP Guest Services with the Dayton Dragons minor league baseball club along with being a football communications intern for the University of Miami in 2018.

Jackson earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in sports and recreation management from Nova Southeastern.
