FSU Softball Field

FSU Softball Field

The Ferris State University softball team plays all of its home games at the FSU Varsity Softball Field.

The field, which is located on the northwest side of the Ferris State campus next to the Frank Karas Intramural Fields, was completed in the fall of 1993 in preparation for the 1994 season.

The facility, which is home to the Bulldog Softball program, underwent a number of upgrades in the fall of 2020 including a new synthetic turf infield. The project also included new batting cages and bullpens along with a much-improved natural grass outfield. The sitework for the project began in June and the project was completed in mid-October with other elements such as backstop pads and windscreens still to be added.

The synthetic turf was installed by the Shaw Turf Company and the design work was put together by Foresite Design, but much of the project work and labor was completed in-house by the dedicated Ferris State physical plant staff. The turf infield surface features the Bulldog logo behind home plate with the wording "Ferris State" along the third base line and "Bulldogs" near the first base dugout in red letters with a while outline.

The facility also features bleacher seating for a capacity of 250 fans along with a multi-level press box, which is surrounded by landscape. The press box features restrooms and a storage area. Both the home and visitor dugouts were recently painted as well.

Construction of a batting cage and pitching areas located next to the field area have made the softball-only facility one of the finest at the NCAA Division II level.

The field dimensions are 220 down both the left and right field lines and 240 in center field.
