Ferris State Cheer Team To Hold Cheer Clinic & Tryout Session

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State Cheer team will hold a cheer clinic on Saturday, April 8, from 1-3 p.m. (ET) with an additional tryout session on April 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at the Ewigleben Sports Complex.

The Ferris State Cheer team is currently a Ferris State Athletics game day sideline squad, as well as a competitive team. Cheer team members cheer at all home Ferris State football as well as men's and women's basketball games.

This year's team plans to compete at Canam Nationals In Myrtle Beach, S.C.

All participants must sign a waiver to participate, and those under the age of 18 must have it signed by a parent or guardian as well.
 
The expected dress code for all participants are black shorts and a plain white tank top and arrive game day ready with hair and make up done.

Cost of the clinic is $10 with a $15 tryout fee due prior to participation. Checks can be made out to Ferris State Cheer or cash will also be accepted as payment.

Female Cheer Requirements:
Standing back handspring
Toe touch back handspring
Double toe touch
Running pass with multiple skills
Single/double twist from lib or heel stretch (Other positions must be able to back and base these)
Flyer flexibility
Be able to stunt in multiple positions
Be ready to learn and perform a short chant AND dance
Standing back tuck (preferred)

Male Cheer Requirements:
Toe touch
Be ready to learn and perform a short chant
Standing back hand spring or tuck (preferred)
Stunting and coed experience (preferred)
