Ferris State Places 84 Student-Athletes On GLIAC All-Academic Teams For Fall Season

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has honored 84 Ferris State University student-athletes on its all-academic and all-academic excellence teams for the recently-completed 2013 fall sports season.

To be eligible for GLIAC All-Academic recognition, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0-3.49, on a 4.0 scale, and must not be a freshman or first-year transfer.

The GLIAC All-Academic Excellence teams consist of those individuals recording a 3.5 grade point average or higher.

Overall, 46 of FSU's 84 honorees earned GLIAC All-Academic laurels while 38 claimed GLIAC All-Academic Excellence recognition.

The Bulldog football team had 26 student-athletes named to one of the two lists while women's soccer had 18, women's cross country netted 10, men's golf totaled nine, men's cross country and volleyball featured eight apiece and women's tennis included five as all seven designated fall sports teams were represented.

While the football team led FSU with 26 honorees, the women's soccer team placed 16 of its 18 recipients on the All-Academic Excellence Team for holding a 3.5 GPA or higher.

The 84 total honorees not only rank among the GLIAC's top showings, but also was a significant jump over a year ago when the Bulldogs had 68 recipients.
