Ferris State's Jayru Campbell Named GLIAC Offensive Player Of Week After Big Performance

Big Rapids, Mich. - For the first time in his collegiate career, Ferris State University junior quarterback Jayru Campbell (Detroit) has been tabbed as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Offensive Player of the Week.

Campbell had a huge night in the ninth-ranked Bulldogs' decisive 59-13 win over #19 Findlay on Saturday evening at Top Taggart Field.

The junior standout accounted for five touchdowns and more than 300 yards of total offense for the second-straight week in the win. Campbell completed 14-of-21 passes for 242 yards and three scores while running for a team-high 96 yards on 14 carries with two TD's.

In the game, Campbell completed a 74-yard TD pass and also ran for a long run of 43 yards. Campbell's play helped FSU bolt out to a 24-0 halftime edge as the Bulldogs cruised to the win while netting 545 yards of total offense.

With his performance on Saturday evening, Campbell became the fifth different starting quarterback under head coach Tony Annese at Ferris State to account for five touchdowns or more in a single game.

The Bulldogs, who are off to a 2-0 start, will open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on the road this Saturday (Sept. 15) at Northwood. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. (ET) at Hantz Stadium in Midland.

Saturday's game will be carried live by flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network with pregame coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m. (ET).
