Big Rapids, Mich. - After an impressive victory over a top 20 ranked opponent, the Ferris State University football squad has vaulted three spots to #6 in this week's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II National Rankings.

The Bulldogs tallied 658 total points this week in voting by coaches across the country to jump from number nine last week in the national rankings.

Along with the AFCA poll, FSU is also currently ranked third this week in the Massey Online Computer Rankings, the CompughterRatings.com poll along with the Hero Sports D2 listing. FSU was sixth last week in the D2Football.com media poll, which will come out again later this week.

This past Saturday, the Bulldogs rolled up more than 500 yards of total offense for the second consecutive week and surged past then 19th-ranked Findlay in decisive fashion 59-13 at FSU's Top Taggart Field.

Presently, the Bulldogs are averaging a nationally second-best 597 yards per game this year and rank tied for third in scoring (54.0 ppg.) along with fourth in rushing (328.0 ypg.). FSU is only two yards behind national total offense leader Shepherd and only a point behind New Mexico Highlands, which leads the country in scoring.

Defending national champion Texas A&M Commerce tops this week's AFCA Coaches Poll with 812 points and 26 first-place votes followed by Minnesota State, Indiana (Pa.), Northwest Missouri State and Grand Valley State in the top five overall.

Ferris State will open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action on the road this Saturday (Sept. 15) as the Bulldogs visit Northwood for a 1 p.m. (ET) league tilt at Hantz Stadium in Midland.

Saturday's game will be carried live by flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network with pregame coverage starting at 12:30 p.m. (ET).
