Ferris State's Jayru Campbell Tabbed GLIAC Offensive Player Of Week For Third Time This Year

Big Rapids, Mich. - For the third time this season, Ferris State University junior quarterback Jayru Campbell (Detroit/Cass Tech) has been tabbed as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Offensive Player of the Week.

Campbell had another stellar performance on Saturday (Oct. 6) in leading the third-ranked Bulldogs to a decisive 42-24 triumph over Michigan Tech in the "Battle At The Ballpark" played at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park.

The nation's leader in passing efficiency, Campbell completed 20-of-24 throws for 291 yards and three scores while adding 33 yards rushing on 12 attempts with another score. All told, he accounted for more than 300 yards of total offense and four scores as the Bulldogs rolled up 616 yards of total offense.

Ferris State jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead, led 28-0 at halftime and held a 42-7 edge at the end of three. Campbell did not play in the final quarter for FSU, which remained unbeaten at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the GLIAC.

The Bulldogs will visit archrival Grand Valley State for the Anchor-Bone Classic this Saturday (Oct. 13) night and a large crowd is once again expected as the two West Michigan rivals collide at GVSU's Lubbers Stadium.

The annual showdown between the two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rivals is set for a 7 p.m. (ET) kickoff in Allendale.

Saturday's contest will be carried live by the Bulldog Sports Network and Sunny 97.3 FM with Rob Bentley providing the play-by-play action and Sandy Gholston offering color commentary. The broadcast begins with an extended Johnson Automotive Pregame Show at 6 p.m. (ET) leading up to kickoff and can be accessed online at www.FerrisStateBulldogs.com.
