Big Rapids, Mich. - The second-ranked Ferris State University football squad capped off a perfect regular-season with a decisive 47-6 triumph over William Jewell on Saturday (Nov. 10) in non-conference action at Greene Stadium in Liberty, Mo.
With the win, the Bulldogs finished with an 11-0 mark to go unbeaten in regular-season action for the third time in five years. FSU will now await the NCAA Division II Selection Show set for Sunday at 5 p.m. (ET) at NCAA.com.
The Bulldogs jumped in front of William Jewell first with a 22-yard field goal from Jackson Dieterle midway thru the opening quarter.
FSU then extended the lead to 10-0 early in the second half when Marvin Campbell found paydirt from seven-yards away to finish a nine-play, 59-yard drive.
The Bulldogs pushed the margin to 17-0 less than four minutes later when senior back Robert Thomas III found the endzone after a 53-yard march.
The Cardinals finally found the scoreboard with 1:11 left in the half as Dalton Dye hit a 28-yard field goal, but FSU answered quickly and moved 62 yards plays in the final minute to push the margin to 20-3 at the break on Dieterle's 21-yarder.
Ferris State's lead grew on the first drive of the second half when quarterback Jayru Campbell found the endzone from two-yards away to finish a 55-yard drive, giving FSU a 27-3 edge.
The Bulldog defense then came up with a big playon a 20-yard scoop and score with 10 minutes remaining in the third to make it 27-3.
Senior back MaliK Hazzard capped the third quarter scoring with a one-yard scoring run to push the margin to 40-3 in the Bulldogs' favor.
Dye converted a long 45-yard field goal with 6:28 remaining in the game to account for William Jewell's scoring and Hazzard later scored his second TD from six-yards out to make the final 47-6 for FSU.
Ferris State finished with 348 yards rushing on the day and Hazzard had a team-high 63 yards on the ground. Jayru Campbell completed 21-of-32 throws for 241 yards while freshman Xavier Wade had five catches for 62 yards and Dion Earls made five grabs for 53 yards.
The Bulldog defense limited William Jewell to -11 rushing yards.
