Ferris State Freshman Kicker Eddie Jewett Earns GLIAC Special Teams Player Of Week Honor

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University freshman kicker Eddie Jewett (Eaton Rapids) has been tabbed as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Special Teams Player of the Week.

The rookie had a big day in the Bulldogs' dominating 69-3 homecoming win over unbeaten Waldorf University on Saturday at Top Taggart Field. Jewett accounted for 15 total points in the win, converting nine-of-nine PAT tries along with making a pair of field goals in the triumph.

He connected on a 28-yard field goal in the first quarter to give FSU a 10-3 lead and added a 27-yard field goal in the second half in addition to being perfect on point-after opportunities.

Jewett's nine-of-nine PAT performance ranks tied for the second-best effort in school history, trailing only former Bulldog Nate Iveson's 10-of-10 effort in 2015 against Lake Erie, and it also matched the Top Taggart Field stadium record of nine set on three other occasions.

With Jewett's selection this week, Ferris State has now had three different student-athletes honored as a league football player of the week award recipient a combined four times to date this year.

This week, the nation's top-ranked Bulldogs will travel to Ohio to square off against the University of Findlay in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. (ET) in Findlay, Ohio.
