Findlay Keeps Home Streak Alive With Win

Findlay, Ohio - Host and nationally-ranked Findlay kept its impressive homecourt winning streak alive by cooling off one of the league's hottest teams in Ferris State with a 90-62 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) triumph on Thursday (Dec. 10) evening inside Croy Gymnasium at Findlay, Ohio.

The Oilers won their 78th consecutive regular-season home contest and their 40th-straight victory overall at Croy Gymnasium by handing the Bulldogs their first league loss of the season.

FSU dropped to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in league play while the ninth-ranked Oilers improved to 4-3 overall and earned their first GLIAC victory after an 0-2 conference start.

The Oilers jumped out to an early lead and held a 38-27 lead at the break as FSU shot only 35.7% (10-28) from the floor in the opening period.  Then, in the second frame, Findlay shot 66.7% (14-21) from the field in outscoring FSU 52-35 to account for the final margin.

All five Findlay players reached double-figure scoring with guard Nathan Hyde fueling the defending NCAA Division II National Champions with a game-high 19 points.  Three players finished with 13 points including Marcus Parker, Rob Marsden and Aaron Robinson with Jack Smith chipping in 10 points.

The Bulldogs had only three players score 10 points or more.  Junior forward/center Justin Keenan paced FSU with 18 points, sophomore guard Dontae Molden added 12 points and senior guard Josh Young poured in 10 points.

Ferris struggled from beyond the arc as the Bulldogs made only two-of-15 (13.3%) three-point attempts en route to a 38.5% (20-52) overall shooting figure.  FSU also missed 15 free throws on its way to a 20-of-35 (57.1%) showing at the stripe.

Meanwhile, the Oilers connected on eight-of-17 (47.1%) treys and 27-of-50 (54%) shots overall in addition to 28-of-33 (84.8%) free throws.  Findlay also outrebounded Ferris 36-28 for the game and forced 14 Bulldog turnovers.

The Bulldogs complete the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule with a visit to Hillsdale on Saturday (Dec. 12) for a 3 p.m. (EST) league tilt at Jesse Phillips Arena in Hillsdale, Mich.
