FSU Men Dominate Dragons In Road Win

Tiffin, Ohio -  Ferris State University snapped a three-game Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) losing skid by dominating the Tiffin Dragons in a decisive 85-66 men's basketball road triumph at TU's Gillmor Center on Thursday (Jan. 14) evening in Tiffin, Ohio.

FSU jumped out to a commanding 48-33 halftime edge and outscored the Dragons 37-33 in the final frame to account for the margin.

Four Bulldog players reached double-figure scoring in the victory, which improved FSU's record to 7-7 overall and 5-4 in the GLIAC this campaign.

Senior guard Austin Randel led Ferris with a game-high tying 20 points and seven rebounds in a solid all-around showing.  He was joined in double-figures by junior forward/center Justin Keenan with 18 points while both junior guards Darien Gay and Matt DeHart chipped in with 15 points apiece.

The Bulldogs shot 54.5% (30-55) from the field, including a 62.1% (18-29) effort in the first half.  FSU connected on 10-of-16 (62.5%) three-point tries for the night and made 15-of-25 (60%) free throws.

FSU also limited the host Dragons to only 38.1% (24-63) shooting as TU dropped to 1-13 overall and 0-9 in conference play.  The Dragons were seven-of-22 (31.8%) behind the three-point line and 11-of-16 (68.8%) at the charity stripe.

Austin Smith was the lone Tiffin player to finish in double-figures as he tallied 20 points.

The Bulldogs outrebounded TU 39-34 for the game and had only nine turnovers with 15 assists, six steals and a single blocked shot.

Meanwhile, Tiffin finished with eight assists, five steals and no blocks to go with 10 turnovers.  They did have 13 offensive rebounds compared to only 10 for FSU.

FSU played all 10 available players in the contest and eight of them scored in the game.

The Bulldogs wrap up their trip to Ohio by visiting Ashland on Saturday, Jan. 16, for a 3 p.m. (EST) league tilt at AU's Kates Gymnasium in Ashland, Ohio.
