FSU Men's Basketball Holds Annual Golf Outing

Big Rapids, Mich. - The seventh annual Ferris State University Men's Basketball Alumni & Friends Golf Outing was held Wednesday (July 28) at the prestigious Tullymore Golf Club in Canadian Lakes.

The four-person double shotgun golf scramble serves as one of the Ferris State men's basketball program's primary fundraising events.  The event included nearly 100 golfers on 25 teams.

Each foursome played 18 holes of golf on the magnificent five-star course rated among Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play" across the country each of the last two years.  A luncheon followed the round while awards, raffle prizes and a silent auction also took place. 

Additionally, FSU head coach Bill Sall addressed and thanked those in attendance while also previewing the upcoming season.  He also introducted two senior players on hand in Justin Keenan and Lou Williams.

"We're excited about the upcoming year and the opportunity we have to be successful," Sall said.  "It was another great turnout for our golf outing and we appreciate the support of everyone involved, including the golfers who came out and our sponsors."

Soon after opening in 2002, Tullymore was named the No. 1 New Upscale Public Course in America by Golf Digest. Since then more honors have poured in, including being named one of the top 15 public courses in America and among the top 100 greatest of all courses in America by Golf Digest in 2007. Most recently, the course was chosen by Golf Digest as the number 14 Greatest Public & Resort Golf Course in America for 2008. The course also opened a new $7 million state-of-the-art clubhouse facility two summers ago that was voted as the Best New Clubhouse in America for 2009.
