Bulldog Basketball Teams Take On Northwood & LSSU This Week At Home

Big Rapids, Mich. - After a trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the Ferris State University men's and women's basketball teams are back at home for a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheaders this week inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs host Northwood on Thursday night (Feb. 14) in a Valentine's Day clash with the men's game set to tipoff first at 6 p.m. (ET) followed by the women's contest at 8 p.m. (ET).  Then, on Saturday (Feb. 16), FSU faces Lake Superior State in league play at home with the men's game starting at 12 p.m. (ET) followed by the women's game at 2 p.m. (ET).

Thursday's contest will represent Resident Appreciation and Healthy Hearts Night.  The first 300 on-campus residents will receive a free shirt while the first 500 fans will get a rally towel. Fans are encouraged to "Wear Red" as part of a red out effort in support of heart disease awareness and National Heart Health month.  There will also be a special drawing at halftime for $3,000 worth of prizes.

Saturday's game times versus Lake Superior State are one hour earlier than normal due to the Ferris State men's ice hockey's nationally-televised regular-season home finale against Bowling Green State, which begins at 5:05 p.m. (ET) and will be televised live by Fox Sports Detroit as part of Warrior "Hockey Day In Michigan".

The Bulldog men's basketball team currently owns a 12-9 overall record and is 11-6 in GLIAC play to date this season.  FSU is only one-game out of second place in the GLIAC North entering the week.  Meanwhile, Northwood heads to Big Rapids with a 10-11 overall mark and is 9-8 in league play while LSSU enters its Thursday night tilt at Grand Valley State with a 12-9 mark to also go with a 9-8 conference slate.

On the women's side, Ferris State holds a 11-9 mark and is 10-7 in the GLIAC.  The Bulldogs, who are coming off a 73-70 overtime win at Northern Michigan last Saturday, trail Grand Valley State for third place by a single game in the GLIAC North.  Northwood is 11-12 overall and 9-8 in league play heading into the week while LSSU owns a 5-16 overall mark and is 4-13 in conference women's play.

Earlier this season, both Bulldog teams dropped league road contests at Northwood.  The women posted a three-point victory at Lake Superior State while the men's squad fell in a close contest.

This season, one lucky Bulldog fan will have a chance to win $10,000 at every conference home game as part of the Lake Osceola State Bank $10,000 Shootout.  One contestant will be picked at random for a chance to make a layup, free throw, three-pointer and half-court shot in 25 seconds.

Ferris State home basketball tickets can be purchased in advance thru the FSU Athletics Ticket Office by calling (231) 591-2888 or visit FerrisStateBulldogs.com for more information.  They can also be bought online via StarTickets.com.

Adult general admission tickets are $7 or the cost is $5 for FSU faculty/staff, seniors ages 65 and up or students age 3 thru 12th grade.  FSU students are admitted free with a valid student ID card.

All of this weekend's games will be broadcast locally by Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network starting with the Meijer Pregame Show a half-hour prior to tipoff.  Rob Bentley and Sandy Gholston will team up to call the action.

In addition to the radio coverage, a live audio broadcast and pay-per-view video webcast will be accessible online at FerrisStateBulldogs.com in addition to live internet statistics and facebook/twitter scoring updates.
