Stolicker Has Big Night In Hometown Return As Bulldogs Post Exhibition Victory

Middleville, Mich. - Ferris State University senior center Jared Stolicker had an impressive return to his hometown on Tuesday (Nov. 3) night in leading the Bulldog men's basketball squad to a 77-68 exhibition victory over Spring Arbor in Middleville.

The 6-10 Stolicker tallied 14 points, 16 rebounds and six blocked shots as the Bulldogs recorded the preseason victory in their first contest against outside competition this campaign. The game was played at Stolicker's alma mater, Thornapple Kellogg High Schoool, in front of a large crowd of family and friends.

The victory came against a Spring Arbor team that also featured a pair of Middleville natives in the Cougars' Tommy and Greg Hamilton. The Cougars return four starters and eight key players from a year ago.

In addition to Stolicker's performance in his hometown, the Bulldogs also received a squad-best 23 points from his senior teammate Josh Fleming. Sophomore guards Drew Cushingberry and Peter Firlik also reached double-digits with 11 points apiece.

Ferris State shot better than 50% from the floor in the second half as the Bulldogs tallied 44 second-period points in a game that featured eight lead changes.

The performance by Fleming and Stolicker helped offset an impressive showing from Spring Arbor's Caleb Hogans, who netted a game-high 33 points in the contest.

Overall, the Bulldogs utilized 12 different players in the outing as they opened the preseason slate.

Ferris State will next play a pair of exhibition games against NCAA Division I competition. FSU visits Central Michigan on Saturday (Nov. 7) for a 4:30 p.m. (ET) tilt in Mount Pleasant and then will square off against the Michigan State Spartans on Monday (Nov. 9) starting at 7 p.m. (ET) in the Breslin Center at East Lansing.
