FSU Heads Into Holiday Break With Decisive Conference Home Win

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad headed into the holiday break with plenty of momentum as the Bulldogs scored a 96-65 GLIAC win over the Tiffin Dragons on Monday (Dec. 19) at FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

FSU won the special school-day event before a large crowd by outscoring TU 47-20 in the opening half en route to the win. FSU tallied 49 points in the second period to account for the decisive margin.

The Bulldogs were led by sophomore center Zach Hankins, who tallied a team-high 18 points with 10 rebounds and eight blocked shots. Senior guard Quentin Ruff added 16 points whie junior forward Noah King contributed 11 points. Meanwhile, sophomore forward Markese Mayfield contributed 11 points in the win.

Brandon Wilkins scored a team-high 15 points for Tiffin in the loss while Austin Adams scored 13 points and the combination of Alex Brown and Juwan Johnson contributed 10 points apiece.

Ferris State shot 49% for the floor and made seven-of-25 (28%) three's along with 17-of-21 (81%) free throws. In comparison, Tiffin shot 32.9% overall from the floor and hit seven-of-21 (33.3%) three's along with 10-of-17 (58.8%) free throws.

The Bulldogs will next travel to Ohio Valley for a non-league game on Dec. 30 starting at 7:30 p.m. (ET). FSU then visits Salem International on Jan. 2 before resuming GLIAC play at Lake Erie on Jan. 5.

FSU heads into the holiday break with an 8-3 overall record and is now 4-2 in GLIAC play after a three-game winning streak heading into the layoff.
