Ferris State Tops Century Mark For Second-Straight Game In Dominating Road Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad stayed unbeaten in the New Year as the Bulldogs stormed past Salem International 104-65 in non-league action on Monday (Jan. 2) in Salem, West V.Va.

The Bulldogs capped off their two-game road swing to West Virginia by topping the century mark for the second time in the last three days. FSU bolted out to a 19-point halftime lead and then outscored the hosts 58-38 in the second half to post the dominating road win.

Junior guard Drew Cushingberry led five FSU players in double-figures with 15 points in the contest while both junior guard Mory Diane and junior forward Noah King chipped in 13 points each. FSU also received 12 points from sophomore forward Markese Mayfield with freshman guard D'Angelo Hughes adding 11 points in the non-league win.

For the second-straight game, FSU had 12 players see action and all 12 scored in the Bulldog victory. Ferris State improved to 10-3 overall with the win and the Bulldogs have now won their last five games in a row to date.

The Bulldogs shot 45.2% from the floor and hit 14-of-32 (43.8%) three's in addition to 14-of-24 (58.3%) free throws.

Darius Farrow led Salem International with a game-high 16 points and Dominique Robinson chipped in 13 points overall.

FSU limited SIU to only 23.1% shooting with a strong defensive effort and the hosts went six-of-20 (30%) from long range in addition to 23-of-32 (71.9%) at the line.

The Bulldogs also owned a 48-29 rebounding margin and FSU forced 16 turnovers in the win. Ferris State outscored the opposition 20-7 in points off turnovers and 26-3 in second chance scoring while owning a 40-24 edge inside the paint. 

Ferris State led by as many as 41 points in the game.

FSU returns to GLIAC play on Thursday (Jan. 5) as the Bulldogs visit Lake Erie for a 7:30 p.m. (ET) league tilt in Painesville, Ohio.
