Ferris State Basketball To Hold Special "Kids Day" This Saturday!

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads host the Michigan Tech Huskies this Saturday (Feb. 18) and a special "Kids Day" is planned in conjunction with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader.

The "Kids Day" games will include a special autograph session that features current National Football League (NFL) players and former Ferris State Football standouts Jason Vander Laan of the New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints' Jake Lampman. They will sign autographs between games from approximately 2:30-3 p.m.

The women's game will tipoff at 1 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena with the men's game to follow at 3 p.m. (ET).

In addition to the autograph session, the "Kids Day" event will also include special activities and promotions for children. It will also be "Senior Day" with Ferris State Basketball honoring a pair of seniors in Quentin Ruff and Joslyn Nicholson during the day's games.

Ferris State fans are encouraged to wear red on Saturday as the school's sports communication program and sports careers RSO will be hosting a "Red Out The Wink & Rink" to promote heart health during both basketball games along with the home hockey contest against Alaska-Anchorage the same evening. All proceeds from the event will go to the Cardiac Rehab Unit at Spectrum Health Hospital of Big Rapids with special contests and prizes featured throughout the day.

Tickets for Saturday's home basketball doubleheader will be sold on gameday starting one hour prior to the women's contest inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex. Adult general admission tickets for Ferris State Basketball are $7 for adults or $5 for faculty/staff, seniors (ages 65+) and students (age 3 to 12th grade). Meanwhile, all Ferris State students are admitted free with a valid ID card.

Prior to Saturday's home doubleheader, both the Ferris State women's and men's basketball squads also host Northern Michigan on Thursday (Feb. 16) night starting at 6 and 8 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids, respectively. The Bulldogs will honor the school's championship volleyball and football teams from the fall season during the evening doubleheader against the Wildcats.

The Ferris State men's basketball squad currently has clinched at least a share of the GLIAC North Division Championship entering this week's action and holds a 21-4 overall record along with a 15-3 GLIAC mark. FSU owns a three-game lead over second-place Michigan Tech in the division with only three games left in the regular-season.

All three remaining regular-season games for both Ferris State teams are at home this year as FSU concludes the regular-season inside Wink Arena by hosting archrival Grand Valley State on Thursday, Feb. 23, following this week's games.
