Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad wrapped up its regular season with a 77-59 victory over Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rival Grand Valley State in front of a large crowd at FSU's Jim Wink Arena on Thursday (Feb. 23) evening.

Five Bulldogs found double-digts on the score sheet with senior guard Quentin Ruff and junior guard Drew Cushingberry leading the charge at 13 points apiece for Ferris State. Sophomore center Zach Hankins had 10 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks for Ferris State in the win.

The Lakers opened up a 6-0 lead on the Bulldogs, but Ferris State managed to claw back ahead. By the half, the Bulldogs led 28-20 over the Lakers. FSU then outscored GVSU 49-39 in the second half to complete the season sweep against its West Michigan rival.

Ferris State came out firing in the second half as the Bulldogs shot 53.3 percent from beyond the arc to add 10 more to their halftime lead.

Along with Ruff, Cushingberry and Hankins, the Bulldogs also received 11 points each from sophomores Greg Williams and Markese Mayfield.

For the game, Ferris State won the glass 42-40 in rebounds and had 21 fast break points to Grand Valley State's 10 for the night. FSU also got a strong showing from its bench, outscoring the Laker reserves 34-12 for the game.

The Lakers were led by Luke Ryskamp, who had 16 points for the game. Trevin Alexander had 12 rebounds for GVSU while Justin Greason added 12 points.

With the win, the GLIAC Regular Season Champion Bulldogs improved to 24-4 overall with an 18-3 league record. The 18 GLIAC wins are the most in a single season in school history while FSU's 24 wins to date are only two shy of the school record.

Ferris State is the top-seeded team in the GLIAC Tournament and will host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday (Feb. 28) at Wink Arena against the Hillsdale Chargers. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs are the two-time defending league tourney champions heading into the annual postseason event.
