Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad continued its red hot start to the season as the Bulldogs rolled past visiting Ohio Valley 100-51 in non-conference action on Sunday (Nov. 19) inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs opened the game by scoring the first 15 points of the contest and shot 59% from the floor in moving to 6-0 on the season. The early run represented the second time this year in which FSU has scored at least the first 15 points of the game.

Junior center Zach Hankins tallied a game-high 19 points and had five blocked shots in the victory while junior forward Markese Mayfield added 14 points and six boards with three assists.

The Bulldogs played unselfish basketball with the squad totaling 35 assists on the day, including 11 from senior guard Drew Cushingberry, who had six in the first five minutes of the contest.

A total of eight FSU players tallied at least seven points in the win and Ferris State had 15 players see action in the victory. All 15 played at least four minutes in the triumph.

Overall, the Bulldogs hit 41-of-70 field goals and made five-of-14 (35.7%) three's to go with a 13-of-21 (61.9%) effort at the free throw stripe.

Meanwhile, the visiting Fighting Scots shot only 31.3% from the floor and went six-of-19 (31.6%) from long range along with five-of-seven (71.4%) from the line.

Ferris State forced 28 turnovers and outscored Ohio Valley 39-11 in points off turnovers in the regional win before the home crowd. FSU also totaled 39 points on the break to only 11 for the visitors.

Ohio Valley was led by Kyle Mitchell's 10 points, but he was the lone OVU player to reach double-figures in the setback as the Fighting Scots fell to 1-2 on the year.

Along with the 35 assists, FSU finished with 16 steals, including four by Cushingberry, and notched seven blocked shots. The Bulldogs also totaled 17 points on the offensive glass with 11 second-chance caroms on the boards.

Ferris State will host Olivet on Tuesday, Nov. 21, as the Bulldogs continue their eight-game homestand at Wink Arena. Tipoff for the special school-day game is set for 12:15 p.m. (ET).
