Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad will celebrate a national championship season this Sunday (April 22) as the Bulldogs hold the "David Steenstra National Championship Banquet" at the University Center on the FSU campus in Big Rapids.

Fans and family members are encouraged to help honor this year's National Champions and can reserve a seat to join the coaching staff, administration and basketball team as the season's accomplishments are highlighted throughout the event.

The championship banquet will begin at 1 p.m. (ET) with a meet and greet period followed by dinner and the program. Along with dinner, the event will feature a season recap and highlights from FSU head coach Andy Bronkema, a special presentation to the squad's seniors, player and academic achievements and more.

This year's banquet is being made possible thru the generous support of David Steenstra.

"My friendship with David Steenstra has been a real blessing and his desire to help our students succeed is incredible," said Bronkema. "People like David make Ferris State a destination University and we're thankful for his support of our program and this great event."

Banquet tickets are $20 apiece and player sponsorships are also available for those interested for $20 each.

Fans should return the attached reservation form by Wednesday, April 18, to head coach Andy Bronkema via email at andybronkema@ferris.edu or by fax to (231) 591-2869. Checks are payable to "Ferris State Men's Basketball".

The event is FREE and the doors open at 7 p.m. (ET). The squad will be introduced beginning at 7:30 p.m. and fans will be able to get autographs, take photos with the national championship trophy, participate in games and contests and more during the special event.

This season, Ferris State captured the school's first national championship and also matched the all-time NCAA Division II record for victories in a season with a 38-1 campaign. FSU, which topped Northern State 71-69 in the national championship game in Sioux Falls, S.D., capped a magical season which saw the Bulldogs match the all-time NCAA Division II record for most wins in a year while finishing with a 38-1 mark. FSU also won its second consecutive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Regular Season Championship, a fourth-straight GLIAC Tournament title and the Midwest Regional crown.
