Ferris State Suffers Close Non-League Regional Setback At Lewis.

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad dropped a 87-79 decision to regional foe Lewis (Ill.) in non-conference action on Saturday (Nov. 24) at Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville, Ill.

The Bulldogs battled the Flyers the entire way and the two squads were tied at 49 at the break, but Lewis outscored FSU 38-30 in the second half to earn the win.

Ferris State got a team-high 15 points from sophomore wing Jaylin McFadden to go with 14 points off the bench by sophomore guard Armani Tinsley. FSU also received 12 points from freshman forward Mason Pline and 11 from junior guard D'angelo Hughes in the setback.

Meanwhile, Kendale McCullum scored a game-high 20 points for the hosts with Donovan Oliver adding 19 points and Delaney Blaylock totaling 13 points for the Flyers.

FSU shot 40.4% from the floor and went 11-of-24 (45.8%) from the three-point line along with 22-of-33 (66.7%) at the stripe.

The Flyers shot at a 52% clip and hit on 10-of-18 (55.6%) three's in addition to 11-of-14 (78.6%) free throws. Both teams finished with 14 turnovers in the game.

Overall, Ferris State held a slim 32-31 rebounding edge and pulled down 15 offensive caroms in the setback. FSU also had 13 assists, four steals and three blocked shots in comparison to LU's 19 assists and eight steals.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 5-3 overall this season while Lewis improved to 4-1 on the year with the victory.

The Bulldogs will open GLIAC play on the road at Wayne State on Thursday, Nov. 29, starting at 7:30 p.m. (ET) in Detroit.
