Bulldogs Claim Victory In GLIAC Home Opener Over Northwood At Wink Arena

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad used a big first-half performance to put away visiting Northwood on Thursday (Dec. 6) evening by a 97-78 score at FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

In the Bulldogs' Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) home opener, the Bulldogs tallied 63 points in the first half in building a 26-point halftime edge en route to the win.

FSU shot 56% from the floor and made 13-of-23 (56%) three's in the victory. The Bulldogs also held a 44-40 advantage on the glass.

Both junior guards D'angelo Hughes and Greg Williams tallied a team-high 19 points apiece for FSU while junior center Cole Walker added 17 points and senior forward Markese Mayfield totaled 16 points. Mayfield added a double-double with 10 rebounds in the win.

The Timberwolves were held to 43% shooting and went only four-of-19 (21.1%) from three-point range and 14-of-21 (66.7%) from the free throw stripe.

NU was led by Ja'Kavien Lewis' team-high 23 points. David Jelinek added 13 points, Jack Ammerman totaled 12 points, Alec Marty notched 11 points and Trey McBride chipped in 10 points in the setback.

Ferris State will host Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Dec. 8) in GLIAC action with tipoff set for 3 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena. The Bulldogs will hold a special alumni reunion in conjunction with the game with all former players slated to be honored at halftime.
