Ferris State Men's Basketball Claims Second-Straight Conference Home Win

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad defeated the Saginaw Valley Cardinals in a close matchup on Saturday (Dec. 8) afternoon in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play by a 74-69 score FSU's Jim at Wink Arena in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs led 33-31 at halftime and held off the Cardinals in the second half for their second-straight GLIAC home win.

Sophomore gaurd Jaylin McFadden led the team with 22 points while senior guard Markese Mayfield had 14 and junior guard D'angelo Hughes chipped in 13 points.

Ferris State made 25-of-53 (43.3%) field goals and went 8-of-22 (36.4%) from the three-point line along with 20-of-22 (90.9%) at the charity stripe.

The Cardinals standouts on the night were Jack Roberts with 18 points and forward Fred John Jr. with 16 points.

Saginaw Valley made 23-of-57 (40.4%) field goals, 4-of-19 (21.1%) three pointers and 19-of-24 (79.2%) free throws in the setback.

Overall, the Bulldogs had 17 turnovers, but also came up with seven steals, three blocked shots and had 16 assists. The Cardinals owned a slim 34-32 rebounding edge.

Ferris State will host Olivet on Monday, Dec. 17, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena.
