Game-Tying Three Rims Away For Ferris State In GLIAC Road Setback At MTU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad fought back from a double-digit deficit and had a chance to force overtime at Michigan Tech for the second consecutive year, but a last-second shot rimmed out and the Bulldogs fell to the Huskies by a 64-61 score on Thursday (Jan. 10) night in Houghton.

In the Great Lakes Intercollegaite Athletic Conference (GLIAC) tilt, MTU built a 13-point edge at one stage before the Bulldogs rallied down the stretch. However, a potential game-tying three-pointer from senior guard DeShaun Thrower bounced off the rim and the Huskies grabbed the rebound as time expired to hold on for the win.

The Bulldogs got a team-high 14 points off the bench from sophomore guard Armani Tinsley to go with 12 points from Thorwer and 10 by junior center Cole Walker in the setback as they opened up a two-game trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Michigan Tech limtied FSU to only 32% shooting and the Bulldogs went six-of-23 (26.1%) from long range in the loss as they fell to 11-7 overall and 3-4 in the GLIAC.

THe Huskies got a game-high 18 points from Dawson Bilski to go with 14 inside by Jake Witt and 13 fro Owen White in the win while improving to 3-4 in the conference as well.

MTU shot 42% from the floor and went eight-of-21 (38.1%) from long range along with making 10-of-16 (62.5%) free throws.

The Huskies did finish with 15 turnovers in the game and were outrebounded 44-42 for the night as FSU pulled down 15 offensive caroms.

Ferris State will be back in action on Saturday (Jan. 12) as FSU visits Northern Michigan for a 3 p.m. (ET) GLIAC tilt in Marquette.
