Big Rapids, Mich. – A late storm of three-pointers pushed the Ferris State University men's basketball team past the Michigan Tech Huskies 79-53 on Saturday (Feb. 16) at Jim Wink Arena in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

With the Senior day victory, FSU moved into first place in the GLIAC North Division standings with three games to play in the regular-season.

Ferris State junior guard D'Angelo Hughes finished with 14 points, tied for the most of all scorers as four Bulldogs finished in double figures. Seven of senior guard DeShaun Thrower's 12 points came in a late stretch in the second half that helped the Bulldogs push past the Huskies. Senior forward Markese Mayfield and sophomore guard Armani Tinsley also had 10 points in the game each.

On the glass, Mayfield finished with a game-best seven boards while junior forward Jaylin McFadden had six to go with six assists in the contest. The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Huskies narrowly, 37-35 for the game.

The Huskies were led by Dawson Bilski's 14 points. Bilski was the only Husky to finish in double digits as MTU struggled, shooting 35.6 percent for the game and only 19.2 from beyond the arc.

Ferris State shot 47.5 percent and went 10-24 from deep (41.7 percent) with much of the three-point work done down the stretch run.

In the first half, Ferris State used a 21-2 run to gain separation from Michigan Tech, but allowed the Huskies to pull back within four points early in the second frame before running away with the game.

The Bulldogs again flexed their depth, as the Bulldog reserves outscored the Huskies' bench 38-17 for the game, led by Tinsley's 10 points.

Prior to the contest, FSU honored its senior class, which included Thrower and Mayfield along with senior big men Taylor Adway and Andrew Meacham.

Ferris State hits the road after moving to 19-9 and 11-6 in GLIAC play following its third consecutive victory. FSU next takes on the Purdue Northwest Pride on Thursday (Feb. 21) at 6 p.m. (ET) in Hammond, Ind.
