Big Rapids, Mich. - Three Ferris State University men's basketball standouts have claimed All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) accolades for the 2018-19 campaign as the league unveiled its postseason award recipients on Friday evening.

Senior guard DeShaun Thrower (Muskegon) claimed All-GLIAC First Team recognition in voting by the league's member head coaches while senior forward Markese Mayfield (Grand Rapids/Godwin Heights) was a second-team choice.

In addition, both Mayfield and sophomore wing Jaylin McFadden (Detroit/East English Village) were tabbed to the GLIAC All-Defensive Team this campaign.

All three honorees played key roles this season as the Bulldogs notched the program's fifth-straight 20-win campaign and all were regulars in the playing rotation a year ago when FSU compiled a 38-1 mark and won the school's first NCAA Division II National Championship.

This season, Thrower averaged a squad-best 14 points per game in 23 outings. The two-sport standout tallied 16 double-figure scoring efforts, including a career-high 35 points at nationally-ranked Findlay on Nov. 20. This season, Thrower earned the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honor multiple times and finished his two-year FSU playing career with 599 total points. Thrower played in two NCAA Division II National Championship games in his Bulldog career as he started at safety last fall for the Ferris State football squad in its run to the national title game.

Meanwhile, Mayfield will depart as one of the winningest seniors in school history. In his five seasons in the FSU program, the Bulldogs have won 133 contests and claimed four-straight GLIAC Tournament Championships while making four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. A starter on last year's national title team, he totaled 10.4 points and a squad-best 7.8 rebounds per game this year. He has scored 999 career points and ranks as one of the school's top 15 all-time performers with 694 rebounds, 135 steals and 88 blocked shots.

Finally, McFadden has scored 10 points or more 20 times this season and compiled 59 steals and 10 blocks as one of the league's top defenders. He's also notched 168 rebounds in his second year as a member of the team's playing roation and made 23 starts as a sophomore while scoring a personal career-high 339 total points. He shot 53% from the floor this season and also connected on 80-of-120 (66.7%) free throws overall.

The Bulldogs were ranked seventh in this week's NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings and will await the official NCAA Tournament selections set to be made late this coming Sunday evening.
