Ferris State Races To Second Consecutive Victory At The D2 Tipoff Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad had another big night as FSU stayed unbeaten with a 111-91 win over Texas Permian Basin on Saturday (Nov. 2) night in day two action at the D2 Tipoff Classic in Anaheim, Calif.

The Bulldogs tallied 62 points in the opening half and put up 50 plus points in each frame while racing to the win as they stayed unbeaten at 2-0 in regular-season action.

A total of six Bulldog players reached double-figure scoring with junior wing Jaylin McFadden scoring a team-high 21 points in leading FSU for the second consecutive night.

FSU's Mason Pline and senior guard D'angelo Hughes each notched 16 points with senior center Cole Walker, senior guard Greg Williams and junior guard Walt Kelser pouring in 13 points apiece. Junior Dorian Aluyi added nine points for the Bulldogs.

Hughes hit his first three shots and tallied nine points in the opening five minutes of action as FSU jumped out to the early lead en route to the victory.

Ferris State had a strong shooting night as the Bulldogs shot 59% from the floor and went a blistering 18-of-32 (56.3%) from beyond the three-point stripe. FSU also made 23-of-26 (88.5%) free throws.

The Bulldogs dished out 22 assists as Williams totaled five and Kelser had four. In addition, FSU totaled three steals and four blocked shots while pulling down nine offensive boards.

Texas Permian Basin was limted to 47% shooting with an eight-of-20 (40%) showing from long range and a 25-of-31 (81%) effort from the free throw line. FSU also maintained a 33-28 edge on the glass.

Ferris State will look to stay unbeaten at the D2 Tipoff Classic as FSU closes the event against nationally-ranked Concordia-Irvine (Calif.) on Sunday (Nov. 3) night at 8:30 p.m. (ET).
