Ferris State Stays Unbeaten With Dominating Victory In Home Opener

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State men's basketball squad stayed unbeaten on the year as the Bulldogs improved to 4-0 with a dominating 85-58 win over Davis & Elkins in their 2019-20 home opener on Saturday (Nov. 9) afternoon inside Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs took a 37-27 edge at halftime and then tallied 48 points in the second half to race past the Senators as FSU opened a 10-game homestand in Big Rapids.

Junior guard Walt Kelser totaled a game-high 28 points for the Bulldogs and nailed four treys in the victory. Meanwhile, freshman Deng Reng added 11 points and pulled down six rebounds for FSU.

The Bulldogs also got eight points from senior guard D'angelo Hughes along with seven apiece from senior Greg Williams, junior Michael Peterson and sophomore Mason Pline, who added a game-high 10 rebounds.

FSU shot 44.7% overall and made six-of-28 (21.4%) from three-point range along with 11-of-23 (47.8%) free throws.

Davis & Elkins was paced by Kyle Leslie, who totaled 14 points, along with Donte Doleman, who finished with 12 points.

The visitors were limited to 33% shooting and went eight-of-23 (34.8%) from the three-point arc along with eight-of-10 (80%) at the line.

FSU also forced 25 turnovers in the victory and totaled 18 assists, including five off the bench from redshirt freshman Ben Davidson. Additionally, Ferris State had nine steals and eight blocked shots.

The Bulldogs continue their homestand on Sunday (Nov. 10) against Alderson-Broaddus (W.Va.) starting at 1 p.m. (ET).
