Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad tipped off the exhibition season on Wednesday (Oct. 27) night against NCAA Division I Michigan State before a crowd of nearly 15,000 fans at the Breslin Center, but fell 92-58 in East Lansing.

The Bulldogs met the Spartans for the fourth time in the past decade with Michigan State jumping in front early en route to the win. MSU built a 44-29 lead at the half and extended the lead against FSU in the second half.

Michigan State limited FSU to only 31.7% shooting and the Bulldogs finished seven-of-28 (25%) from long range to go with a 11-of-22 (50%) showing at the free throw line.

Meanwhile, MSU countered by shooting 52.4% for the night from the floor along with a seven-of-19 (36.8%) long range effort. The Spartans also finished 19-of-31 (61.3%) from the charity stripe.

Senior guard Walt Kelser paced the Bulldogs with a team-high 12 points while junior Vejas Grazulis added 10 points. Both sophomore Ben Davidson and freshman Ethan Erickson added eight points each.

The Spartans were led by Gabe Brown's game-high 19 points and Max Christie chipped in 17 points for MSU.

Overall, the Bulldogs managed to play 14 players in the contest and six saw their first action in a FSU uniform.

Former Bulldog starter Michael Peterson, who is now a graduate transfer at Michigan State, saw action in the second half for the Spartans in his MSU debut against the Bulldogs. He previously spent five seasons in the FSU program.

Ferris State continues its exhibition slate by visiting another high-major NCAA Division I school in Xavier on Friday, Nov. 5. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (ET) at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
