Another Big Second Half Lifts #20 Ferris State To Road Victory Over Northern Michigan

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally 20th-ranked Ferris State University men's basketball squad again utilized a big second half to garner a victory as the Bulldogs garnered a 76-63 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road win over Northern Michigan on Thursday (Dec. 9) night in Marquette.

The Bulldogs held a four-point halftime lead at 35-31, but pushed the margin to 20 points in the second half before coming away with the 13-point decision.

With the win, Ferris State is now 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the GLIAC following the opening game of a two-game trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

The Bulldogs were paced by senior guard Walt Kelser, who totaled 20 points in the win. FSU also got 12 points from senior forward Dorian Aluyi in the starting lineup and off the bench a pair of Bulldogs reached double-digits with Ben Davidson pouring in 16 points and freshman Ethan Erickson scoring 13 points.

For the night, the Bulldogs shot 49.1% from the floor and FSU finished eight-of-21 (38.1%) from the three-point line while making 16-of-28 (57.1%) free throws.

The Bulldogs were out rebounded 40-38 and FSU finished with 23 turnovers in the game, but the Bulldogs also got 38 points off their bench to 14 for the Wildcats and limited NMU to only 33.3% shooting. Northern Michigan finished five-of-26 (19.2%) from long range and eight-of-15 (53.3%) at the line.

Max Bjorklund led the Wildcats with 21 points in the setback and Tre Harvey compiled 10 points for the night.

Ferris State will wrap up its trip by facing Michigan Tech on Saturday (Dec. 11) at 2 p.m. (ET) in Houghton.
