League-Leading Ferris State Basketball Squads Face West Michigan Rivals This Week In GLIAC Play

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads will square off against a pair of West Michigan rivals this week as they hit the road for short Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road doubleheaders.

Both FSU teams will visit archrival Grand Valley State on Thursday (Jan. 13) evening for a conference twinbill in Allendale at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The women's game will tipoff at 6 p.m. (ET) with the men's game slated for an 8 p.m. (ET) start.

On Saturday (Jan. 15), Ferris State then heads to Davenport for an afternoon doubleheader in Caledonia. The women's contest will get underway at 1 p.m. (ET) with the men taking the floor at 3 p.m. (ET).

The matchups at GVSU on Thursday evening will feature four of the league's top teams. Presently, the Bulldog women's squad owns an 11-3 overall record and is tied with GVSU atop the league at 5-1 overall. The Lakers are ranked 14th in the country at 12-1 on the year.

Thursday night's men's contest will also pit a pair of the conference's best teams. FSU, which is ranked 15th nationally in the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) poll and first in the D2SIDA regional listing, is currently 11-3 overall and a league-leading 6-0 in the GLIAC. GVSU is 9-2 overall and off to a 3-1 start in conference play.

Following Thursday's games, the Bulldogs head to Davenport to face the Panthers, who are currently 1-13 overall and 0-6 in the GLIAC on the women's side along with 7-4 overall and 3-1 in men's action. Both Davenport teams had their home games on Thursday night against Lake Superior State postponed, but are scheduled to face FSU on Saturday.
