Ferris State To Honor Fall Championship Teams During Home Hoops Action This Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University Athletics will honor and recognize three fall championship teams this week at upcoming home Bulldog men's and women's basketball contests at Jim Wink Arena.

On Thursday (Feb. 24) evening, the Bulldogs will introduce and recognize the NCAA Division II National Champion Ferris State Football squad at halftime of the men's basketball contests versus Michigan Tech. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. (ET) following the women's game that begins at 5:30 p.m. The Bulldog football team captured the program's first NCAA D2 National Championship this past fall, finishing the year with a perfect 14-0 record en route to also winning the GLIAC Championship for the third-straight year.

On Saturday (Feb. 26), Ferris State will welcome and honor both the Bulldogs' volleyball and women's soccer teams at halftime of the women's basketball matchup against Northern Michigan that begins at 1 p.m. (ET). Both teams claimed GLIAC Tournament Championships in the fall and both also reached the NCAA Tournament. The women's soccer league tourney title was the program's first in school history while FSU volleyball also won the GLIAC South Division regular-season crown and hosted the D2 Midwest Regional.

The recognition of the fall sports squads is part of a busy weekend that includes several other special presentations and promotions in conjunction with the final regular-season home action of the year.

Thursday night is "Championship Night" as the Bulldogs host Michigan Tech to begin the weekend stretch. Both the Bulldog men's and women's squads can clinch at least a share of the GLIAC North Division Championship with wins over the Huskies. The men would also stake claim to the league's overall title by beating MTU. It addition, it will be Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night with FSU slated to honor a number of faculty members who will be recognized in conjunction with FSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. During halftime of the men's game, along with the football national championship team recognition, the Bulldogs will also pay tribute to the 2020-21 Dean Davenport "Bulldog Of The Year" Award recipients in Morgan Waller (Women's Tennis) and Thomas Hursey (Men's Golf).

Saturday will be Senior Day with FSU slated to honor seven seniors between the women's and men's games. Additionally, retiring FSU President Dr. David Eisler and his wife, Patsy, will be honored prior to the men's tipoff.
