The nationally-ranked Ferris State University men's golf team remains in a two-way tie for eighth place following three rounds of competition at the 2010 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships (May 18-21) as the Bulldogs registered a 308 score in this Thursday's (May 20) action in Noblesville, Ind.

Ferris State's 59-over-par 923 tournament total (305-310-308=923, +59) equals California State-Monterey Bay's (310-307-306=923, +59) for a current share of eighth place.  The Bulldogs are two shots behind seventh-place Barry  (921, +49) and 10 strokes in back of Nova Southeastern (913, +49) for sixth place among the 20 team competing on The Sagamore Golf Club course.

For the third consecutive day, a different team is atop the leaderboard as Chico (Calif.) State presently is in first place with a three-round 898 score (+34).  Florida Southern (899, +35) and Sonoma (Calif.) State occupy the second and third-place positions, respectively.

Senior Kurt Valley (Bay City/Western) currently leads the way for Ferris State with an 18th-place tying 227-stroke total (77-76-74=227, +11).  Valley, a two-time (2008-09 and 2009-10) All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First-Teamer moved up into 13 spots into a tie for 18th place with four others after beginning third-round play tied for 31st-place honors.

Senior Eric Lilleboe (Okemos/Lansing Catholic Central) is one of six individuals tied for 38th place to date as a result of firing a 232 score (73-78-81=232, +16).  The two-time (2007-08 and 2009-10) GLIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Year and three-time (2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10) first-team All-GLIAC honoree began Thursday's action tied for 18th place.  Junior Joe Brown (St. Ignace/LaSalle) is two strokes in back of Lilleboe with an 18-over 234-stroke total (76-77-81=234, +18), which represents a tie for 49th place.

Senior Craig Burrows (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Olmstead Falls), a 2010 All-GLIAC Honorable Mention selection, turned in a personal-best 74 score round in today's action and his 19-over-par 235 score (82-79-74=235, +19) ties him for 54th place.  Junior Garrett Simons'  (Grand Ledge) 240-stroke total (79-82-79=240, +24) following three rounds of action marks a three-way deadlock for 77th place.  The 2010 first-team all-conference performer's third-round 79 score matched a personal tourney best.

The fourth and final round of the 2010 NCAA-II Champonships takes place this Friday (May 21). Live scoring for the final round will be available via Golfstat at this link.

Ferris State is presently making its second straight national tournament appearance and the 14th all-time in the program's history.  The Bulldogs were recently ranked in a 24th-place tie in the final and fifth installment of the Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches' Poll of the 2010 spring season.

A season ago, Ferris State produced a school-best tying eighth-place showing (1,196 team score) at the 2009 NCAA-II Men's Golf Championships in Blaine, Wash.
