Ferris State University men's golf head coach Mike Mignano has been chosen as a 2009-10 Division II Eaton Golf Pride Regional Coach of the Year for the Midwest Region as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Mignano is one of eight regional coaches of the year award recipients and is a candidate for the Eaton Pride National Coach of the Year, which will be announced on Monday, June 7.

This 2009-10 season, Mignano has directed Ferris State to its second consecutive NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships appearance as the Bulldogs qualified for nationals with a third-place showing at the 2010 NCAA-II Midwest/South Central Super Regional (May 3-5).  FSU has also placed third or higher in nine of its 11 tournaments this campaign, which includes either finishing or tying for first-place team honors in four tourneys - Saginaw Valley State Al Watrous Intercollegiate Invitational (Sept. 12-13), Ferris State Matt Pinter Invitational (Sept. 26-27), Wayne State Motor City Invitational (Oct. 11-12), and Michigan State Fossum/Spartan Invitational (April 24-25).

In the summer of 2009, Mignano was featured in the Michigan Student Golfer Magazine's College Coach's Spotlight.

Mignano is presently in his third year directing both the Bulldog men's and women's golf programs after being named as school's permanent head coach on August 7, 2008.  He's the sixth individual to be tabbed as head coach in the history of Ferris State's golf programs.  Prior to his appointment, Mignano served as head coach on an interim basis starting in the 2007-08 spring season.
