FSU Men's Golf Listed 18th In National Preseason Rankings

Following a seventh-place tying performance at the 2010 nationals, the Ferris State University men's golf program is starting to attact national attention as the Bulldogs are ranked 18th in the 2010-11 Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Preseason Coaches' Poll, which will appear in the Sept. 6 issue of the magazine.

Ferris State registered 130 points to earn an 18th-place national ranking, which was one point in front of Indianapolis.  The top placing in the top 25 poll is currently occupied by 2010 national champion Florida Southern with 12 first-place votes and 434 points.

The preseason poll and can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com.  The Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches' Poll combines the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).  

Ferris State concluded the 2009-10 campaign ranked tied for 24th place nationally in the final poll (May 24) and wrapped up the 2009 fall portion of last season listed 22nd in the nation as a result of receiving 91 points.  The 2009-10 team produced the best finish ever in the program's history with a seventh-place tying four-round 1,232 team stroke total at the 2010 NCAA Division II Championships (May 18-21) in Noblesville, Ind.   

FSU was listed in a 17th-place tie in the 2009-10 Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Preseason Coaches' Poll (Sept. 3).

The Bulldogs, who are coached by fourth-year head coach Mike Mignano, begin their 2010-11 season this upcoming weekend (Sept. 12-13) taking part in the Lake Superior State Invitational in Kincheloe, Mich.
