Bulldog Men Still Tied For 7th After Two Rounds

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team concluded day two action in the 2012 NCAA Midwest/South Central Super Regional on Tuesday (May 8) in Jefferson City, Mo.

The Bulldogs are currently tied for seventh place after two rounds at the Jefferson City Country Club in the 54-hole event, but are only four strokes out of second place heading into Wednesday's (May 9) final round of action.

Central Missouri leads the field with a 575 total following 36 holes with Central Oklahoma and Washburn (Kan.) presently tied for second place at 590 overall.  Indianapolis (591), Grand Valley State (592) and St. Edward's (Texas) (593) are all right in front of FSU's 594 total.  Midwestern State (Texas) is also at 594 overall heading into the final round of the 20-team event.

Jared King of Central Missouri currently holds a one-stroke lead for the individual lead following two rounds with a 139 figure on the par 72 course.

FSU's Kyle Wittenbach presently leads the Bulldogs as he is tied for 15th place with a 147 total following a 72 on Tuesday.

Trent Davison and Gary Bissell are tied for 22nd in the field at 148.  Davison carded a 73 in the second round with Bissell shooting a 74 to match his opening-round performance on Monday.

Bulldog senior Garrett Simons fired a 75 in the second round and is tied for 61st in the field at 153 with Richard Weisenberger tied for 80th at 155 after posting a 79 on Tuesday.

Action concludes on Wednesday (May 9) in the 54-hole event.
 
FSU is making its 10th consecutive NCAA Regional Tournament appearance in a row. The Midwest/South Central Regional is being hosted by Lincoln (Mo.) University and consists of 10 teams from the Midwest Region along with 10 from the South Central Region.
 
The top five teams and the top two individuals not affiliated with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the 2012 NCAA-II Men's Golf Championships slated for May 15-19 at The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky., as part of the 2012 Division II Spring Championships Festival to be hosted by Bellarmine Univeristy and the Louisville Sports Commission.
