Men's Golf Ties For Fourth Place At GLIAC Fall Event

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team wrapped up its first action of the 2012-13 campaign with a fourth-place tying finish in the GLIAC Fall Invitational held Sunday and Monday (Sept. 22-23).

The tournament took place at Hawkshead Golf Club in South Haven, Mich.

Wayne State won the team race with a 594 title followed by Saginaw Valley State (599) and Grand Valley State (600) in front of both Malone and the Bulldogs, who carded a 604 team score on rounds of 293 and 311 over the two days of action on the par 72 course measuring 7,003 yards.

FSU junior Trent Davison tied for 11th place in the field with a 149 figure as he shot scores of 74 and 75 on Sunday and Monday, respectively.

Behind Davison was junior Tyler Robinson in a tie for 22nd place at 151 with a 73 and 78 in the two rounds.  Next up was freshman Ben Cook, who tied for 32nd place at 154 with scores of 75 and 79.

FSU sophomores Luke Trocchio and Chris Eaton both tied for 36th place overall at 155 to round out the Bulldog lineup.  Trocchio posted scores of 71 and 84 while Eaton shot 76 and 79.

Ferris State's Sam Stark competed as an individual and finished tied for 44th overall at 156 with rounds of 79 and 77.

A total of 16 teams and 88 golfers took part in the two-day event.

The Bulldogs are next slated to compete in the Midwest Regional #1 event on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, in Kansasville, Wis.
