Men's Golf Finishes Sixth At Regional Tournament

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team came in tied for sixth overall at the 2012 NCAA Men's Golf Regional #1 event held on Sunday and Monday (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) at Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville, Wis.

The Bulldogs carded a two-round score of 597 in the 24-team event.  FSU shot a 304 in Sunday's opening round followed by a 293 on Monday to move up the leaderboard.

Wayne State won the event with a 576 followed by Tiffin in second place (590) and Grand Valley State in third (592).

Tyler Robinson led the Bulldogs as he placed tied for 11th overall with a 147 score on rounds of 77 and 70, respectively.

Robinson was followed closely by Luke Trocchio, who carded a 149 on scores of 75 and 74 over the two days of competition.

Next in line for the Bulldogs was Trent Davison at 150 with identical rounds of 75 each. Ben Cook placed behind Davison in the FSU lineup with a two-round total of 152, which came by firing scores of 77 and 75.

Finally, Chis Eaton rounded out the Bulldog lineup with a 154 score as he shot totals of 80 and 74.

The individual winner was Wayne State's Rob Favaro, who won a playoff with Tiffin's Luke Schlicher after both posted scores of 142.

The Bulldogs are next slated to compete in the 2012 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships set for Oct. 14-15 in Elyria, Ohio.
