Men's Golf Ends Fall Season By Winning Motor City Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team wrapped up its fall season in highly-successful fashion as the Bulldogs captured the 2012 Motor City Invitational hosted by Wayne State on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 22-23) in Detroit.

Ferris State entered the final day of competition in second place with a 303 team score, but fired an impressive round of 270 on Tuesday to win the competition by five strokes over runner-up and host Wayne State.  FSU carded a two-day total of 573 while the Warriors were at 578.  A second WSU squad placed third at 584 followed by Oakland Community College (598) and Tiffin (600) in the top five of the six-team tournament.

Bulldog sophomore Luke Trocchio emerged as the individual medalist with a 139 score on rounds of 71 and 68 over the two days, respectively.  

FSU junior Trent Davison was next in line as he tied for third place in the field with a 143 score.  Davison shot a 77 in round one, but finished with a 66 on the final day of action.

Next up for Ferris State was junior Tyler Robinson in a tie for fifth place at 144 with scores of 76 and 68.  He was followed by sophomore Chris Eaton in a tie for 11th place at 148 following rounds of 80 and 68 overall.  Finally, freshman Ben Cook tied for 21st place in the field with a 151 as he posted scores of 79 and 72, respectively.

The event took place at the Detroit Golf Club in the Motory City, whih was a par 72 course measuring 6,936 yards.
