Men's Golf Among Top 10 Teams In Large Regional Event

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team finished tied for eighth overall in the Midwest Regional #3 event held on Sunday and Monday (April 14-15) at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind.

The Bulldogs shot a 294 in round one and came back with a 300 team score in Monday's final round to finish at 594 overall for the two-day event on the par 72 course that measured 7,146 total yards.

Missouri-St. Louis claimed top team honors with a 579 with Maryville (Mo.) second at 585 and Lewis (Ill.) taking third place with a 587 team score.

Less than 20 strokes seperated the top 13 teams in the competitive field that featured a total of 31 schools.

Trent Davison led the Bulldogs as he placed tied for 14th individually with a 145 total on rounds of 74 and 71 in round two.

In addition, FSU's Ben Cook also placed among the top 20 finishers on the leaderboard as he shared 19th place with a 147 figure.  He fired a even-par 72 on Sunday before coming back with a 75 on Monday.

Chris Eaton also posted a 72 over the initial 18 holes and then carded a 77 in the final round to register a 149 total, which was good for a share of 42nd place.

Next up for the Bulldogs was Luke Trocchio, who finished tied for 94th in the field.  He followed up an opening-round 78 with a 77 on the final day to record a 155 total.

Finally, Andrew Jared tied for 101st in the field at 156 on rounds of 76 and 80 for the Bulldogs.

Lewis' Harrison Carmichael won a playoff to capture individual medalist honors with a 142 total.  He fired a 68 on Sunday before posting a 74 Monday.

The Bulldogs will be back on the course this weekend for the GLIAC Spring Invite, taking place at Winding Hollow G.C. in New Albany, Ohio, on Saturday (Apr. 20) and Sunday (Apr. 21).
