Men's Golf Takes Third Place Overall At GLIAC Spring Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team placed third overall in the 2013 GLIAC Spring Invitational, which wrapped up on Sunday (April 21) at the Winding Hollow Golf Club in New Albany, Ohio.

The Bulldogs registered a 622 total on rounds of 308 over the first 18 holes on Saturday (April 20) followed by a 314 in Sunday's final round of competition.  FSU had been second overall heading into the final day, but Wayne State vaulted from third to first after recording an impressive 301 figure.

Host Ohio Dominican placed second overall at 619 after owning the first day lead while Grand Valley State came in fourth (624) behind the Bulldogs and Ashland took fifth (633) in the 13-team invitational.

Individually, Ferris State's Ben Cook tied for sixth in the field with a 154 on rounds of 77 both days.  He was followed by Trent Davison, who tied for 11th with a 155.  Davison shot a 76 in the first round and finished up with a 79 on Sunday.

Luke Trocchio placed tied for 26th at 158 on rounds of 82 and 76 while Andrew Jared tied for 30th with a 159 total as he shot 78 followed by an 83 over the final 18 holes.

Finally, Sam Stark tied for 37th at 161 with a 79 on Saturday and an 82 on Sunday.

FSU's Zac Kiefer competed as an individual, but tied for third overall with a 153 total.  He shot a 76 in the opening round and came back with a 77 over the final round.

The individual winner was Wayne State's Tyler Laserra, who carded a one-under 71 in round one followed by an even-par 72 on Sunday.

Next up for the Bulldogs is the GLIAC Preview, which will be held on April 27 at Bath, Mich.  The event will mark the final regular-season competition for the Bulldogs prior to the NCAA regionals.
